More About St. Vincent de Paul Society
The St. Vincent de Paul Society was founded by a group of young students in Paris in 1833. Their spiritual aspirations and social commitment to the needs of the poor compelled the students to dedicate their work to “the Apostle of Charity and Father of the Poor,” St. Vincent de Paul, who lived and served the poor throughout France in the 1600s. Driven by the convictions of its founders, St. Vincent de Paul Society is today a worldwide network of 800,000 lay Catholics who are inspired to build a more just world through personal relationships and service to people in need.
With a legacy spanning over 100 years in Seattle and King County and 185 years around the world, the mission is to assist and advocate for individuals and families, enabling them to meet basic needs and attain stability and self-sufficiency.
